K.L. Oh K.L. ..

Bro Shau had some assignments to do at Reliance in KL, so I went along with him to KL yesterday, Friday. I had my mission too - to recee (tourist guide jargoon) a couple of places before I bring my WI group. First we stopped at Beryls Chocolate factory in Seri Kembangan. When we arrived, we had to wait for another group to come. And then they arrived - about 20 cute little kinddies and their teachers from Krista Kinrara. You can imagine the commotion but they were good kids once the tour started.

From there, we took the outer Cheras link road to Batu Caves cause I wanted to 'recee' D'or Rue, the jewellery factory. However, the journey was tiresome and boring because of the traffic jam and the pouring rain. I lived and worked in KL during the 70's until early 90's, a total of about 21 years. I was the 'queen' of the road then. But now, to say the least, I'm very scared of driving in KL. There are too many vehicles on the road, and many unfamiliar road changes. Glad Shau was doing all the driving. Then to go to KLCC, we decided to park the car near the Gombak LRT Station and take the Putra LRT instead. It was a good decision because within minutes, we were already there.
Here's where I have to wait for Shau at KLCC.

Another headache for me at KLCC was to reach the surau. Shau was familiar with the place and walked very fast. I had to practically run after him , weaving in and out of the holiday crowd. Why so many people? Oh yes, it was luch time for the office people nearby and also the school holidays. Then Shau left me to go to Reliance office at Jalan Yap Kwan Seng. To avoid all the commotion as usual in a shopping area, I went straight up to the fourth floor to Kinokuniya, my favourite bookshop in KL. There too there were many people but they were busy looking at books or reading - less noise. I found the book I was looking for ( see pic). After an hour there, I went down to the ground floor to wait for Shau.

I found a bench near this snowman and started reading my new book. I shut out all the swish-swash of shoppers passing by and the loud familiar 'I saw Mummy kissing Santa Clause' blaring in the background and concentrate on my book. Oh my head ... I was feeling quite exhausted by then so much so when Shau arrived, I told him that we should head back to Melaka although it was only 4 p.m. and I'd yet to recee the Pavilion and the Curve. YES ... age is catching up, dear girl.

KL is no more the KL of my time. But I still like the present KayEl - so alive and colourful. I 'll go with Alang the next time to see the Pavilion and the Curve. We'll take the express bus and use the LRT there, ok Alang?
