"You haven't changed! Still like last time! Haven't grown!" Hug, hug, hug... that was the greeting I got when we met yesterday - Kak Asmah and I - at her 'get-away' condo at Pantai Puteri Melaka. Pak Idrus looked at us smiling. They came for a couple of days to this, their second home out of Kuala Lumpur. I befriended Pak Idrus and Kak Asmah about 38 years ago when Pak Idrus was in charge of the Melaka State's Youth dan Cultural Department. At that time I was just starting my teaching career and involved in cultural and youth activities. So we got acquainted. Pak Idrus (he was not 'Pak' then rather 'Encik', young and assertive) was very supportive of any youth or cultural activity my group was involved in, while Kak Asmah in her own way was supportive too, inviting us to their house for tea and biscuits, giving comforting and encouraging words when the going got tough. And then we went our separate ways..... years rolled on ... we lost touch. About a year ago, I 'found' Pak Idrus in the world of blogging. We got in touch again and Pak Idrus mentioned that the next time they
were in Melaka they would inform me. So that's how it was. "Long time no see!" I was worried. What would we talk about? Wow... plenty I found out. Pak Idrus had a lot of topics to share. And Kak Asmah too, like old times, calm and gentle. I need not worry after all because it really felt that there was no 38-years separation between friends. Yes, don't worry.... I'm sure there would be lots of catching up to do the next time you long time no see your friend. And also it's so refreshing. Thank you from The Puteri.

putri, great meeting you and hope that we could meet again with all those folks that were with us in the early seventies. Have a nice day.
Pak Idrus,
Glad you're safely back Home Sweet Home. Yes, we could have sort of a reunion.
Tell Kak Asmah, I love the Swedish cookies - must be from IKEA kan?
