An Afternoon At KAYFAZ

KAYFAZ stands for "Kompleks Anak Yatim Fatimah Al-Zaharah" (The Fatimah Al-Zaharah Orphange). It is a home for orphans, the poor and the needy, catering for girls only. The home was built on the initiative of the Islamic Women Welfare Organization of Melaka and now run by an agent of the Melaka government.

I just returned from an afternoon of entertaining the children there. One of the activities we organized for the year was a visit to the home. Through visit like this, we show the children that our organization do care for their welfare and happiness. We had a short impromptu concert where the children were encouraged to participate in singing, dancing, poetry reading and group participation in games and competitions like dressing up a friend and creative ways of tying the scarves. It was a pleasure to see the girls cooperating among themselves. They looked so happy and seemed to enjoy all the activities. Of course they were thrilled to receive little gifts for all their efforts. Being an 'over-energetic' MC for the day, I came home feeling very tired and ready for an early night. All for a good cause!
Poetry reading in session . . . .

Here let me help you with your scarf. . . .

The fancy dressers about to do the cat-walk . . . . .
