I simply LOVE this fruit. The Passion Fruit, as it is named, is 'MARKISA' in Malay. I bought the fruit near Lake Singkarak, West Sumatra, Indonesia, where I went recently. The fruit can't be found or grown in Malaysia I think. It is a wonderful creation - tough, smooth, glossy and waxy rind outside protecting the white, soft, juicy interior filled with numerous sacs of small, hard, black pitted seeds. My grand kids stay away from the fruit (much to my delight :-) because the interior reminds them of 'tadpoles' of all things! The soft interior is heavenly to me. I use a spoon to scoop it out and savour it in my mouth . . . hmmm . . . yummy! I've never tasted anything like it. It tastes even better if you keep it in the fridge. Anyone else got any other opinion?

Picture shows the row of shops selling 'Markisa' and I bought my supply from the lady in the middle.

Salam Puteri Hang Li Poh
Lama dulu, saya pernah singgah ke laman PHLP. Betul, buah itu juga dipanggil buah susu. People around Banting (Selangor) used to grow that a lot. I don't know now. MARDI (Serdang) used to sell markisa cordial. Right now, I have some markisa plants creeping wildly at the back of my house. I don't take care of them anymore. I remember harvesting about 30 fruits from my two well-guarded markisa plants some years ago. When a markisa is really ripe, the inside part turns yellow and becomes juicy. We mix that with some water & sugar. It's very refreshing if taken with ice.
Wa alaikum salam Pak Temuk,
Oh ada juga pokok markisa dekat sini ya? I like the fruit in whatever shape it is.
Thanks for visiting and the additional information.
