Have you been following the Beijing Olympics? I'm not a sports person myself but I sometimes watch my favourites - Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Synchronised Swimming and the like. and when the Winter Olympics is shown on TV, I would glue my eyes to the ice skating events. (PS. I also like to watch Ballroom dancing competitions on TV!) Do you notice what these events have in common? Yes, they are all very CREATIVE!. What excellent choreography! Not only that - I never fail to marvel at the years of training, sweat and tears to produce such perfect movements. Some of them defy gravity and sore into the air with twists and turns making it looks so darn easy. And the costumes are beautiful and elegant too - not that I condone to such dressings. But THIS is sports - all the training, discpline, determination to outdo oneself. For whom? For your country, of course. For yourself, your family, your hometown, your state, your country.

Gymnast team from BrazilSo each time the national anthem of the gold winner was being played and the flag raised, not only the winner was filled with emotion, I - who have nothing in connection with whoever and whatever - would feel a lump in my throat and tears would swell. My grand-niece, Iman, noticed it one day and commented. "Why are you crying?" Said I, "They're doing it for their country." For U, Malaysia, I would do anything. (I can feel my eyes swelling :-)
The Russians doing a perfect 10.
They received the gold medals.Congratulations to all those who participate in the Olympics. You are all winners - the Olympiads!
