This very hard-working animal, never complaining, is THE DONKEY - like in the movie, "Shrek". My friend and I agreed to ride on one, on our way back to the starting point. It was almost 4.00 p.m, the weather was hot and we were literally dragging our feet. After bargaining with the owners, we agreed to 1 Jordanian Dinar (RM5.00) each donkey. Really it was an experience ought not to be missed. We don't have donkeys in Malaysia, you see. I almost fell off my Donkey because I couldn't balance myself properly. Dzuredah, my companion, was screaming her head off and telling the owner to slow down the donkey! A few short minutes later, the donkeys stopped - the owners stopped, saying that was how far we would go with 1 Dinar. We felt cheated because the end was not in sight. Finally we agreed to add another Dinar each so that they'd walked us nearer the designated area. Well only a few additional donkey's steps! When we alighted, the Arabs asked us for additional tips! That was when Dzu and I ran away vey fast . . . Not that we didn't have the money, but because it was not in the original agreement. . . Oh the Arabs !sketches of memorable and nostalgic events past and present, jotted down from my residence in Jalan Puteri Hang Li Poh especially to be read by the present generation in my family, lest they forget. Happy reading all ...
