Sleepy Hollow no more . . .

Once, Melaka town was known as 'The Sleepy Hollow' - everything was calm and placid. Now the 'Hollow' has awaken . . busy, busy, busy. When the town was declared as 'World Heritage City', tourists come from far and near. When I was in London a long time ago, I noticed that every other person on the street was a tourist, easily recognizable with a map in hand and a camera round the neck. And I wondered when my Melaka would be like London. It's happening now and I'm proud of it, being born and bred right in the middle of this small town. Take for example last night when my family and I took a friend from out of town to see the sights and sound of the city. People were everywhere - shopping (window shopping for me) in the Saturday night market of Jonker Walk, dining or just enjoying the sights with family and friends, till past midnight! What more with the added Chinese New Year attractions at the water-front. As we dined in the open, then later strolled along the promenade and among the exhibits, we were entertained by melodious music from a live band nearby. Not bad eh. for this former Sleepy Hollow!
So folks, do enjoy these photos of the dragon and friends which I had mentioned in my earlier posting. This time it was a kaleidoscope of rioting colours. I've never seen so many cameras clicking happily away . . . 3 cheers for whoever it is responsible for waking up the Hollow!
