Was looking through my 'thousands' of photos and I found this one. Four pretty maids all in a row (sounds like from a Nursery rhyme?). And which one is Puteri Hang Li Poh? It was a family tradition then to have photos taken come the eve of Hari Raya. We children would put on the newest dress, often sewn by our Mother. Then we would trot trot to the Eastern Photo Studio (name of the shop) nearby to have our photo taken. The camera man would arrange our positions and posture right up to the tilt of the head! When the negatives were ready, he would do touch-ups with a very fine brush so that the photos would turn out perfect. It was all black and white of course then. If it need to be in colour, then he would use his brush and paint on the finished photo. Those were the days. . . sketches of memorable and nostalgic events past and present, jotted down from my residence in Jalan Puteri Hang Li Poh especially to be read by the present generation in my family, lest they forget. Happy reading all ...

I love old photos. Very, very charming.
You're second from left. Betul tak?
Dear Wir,
The shop, on the first floor, was at the end of the bridge at Kampong Pantai. Ground floor grocery shop. Now both shops no more.
Your guess was correct, clever you.
Hope you get your glasses. All the best - Cikgu
Dear Naz,
Betul lah tu :)
The photo taken way before you were born!
Well, I like the little girl right in front.
Vain you, Cik Nora. Well, she's cute anyway.
